I work with a pastor who loves to blog. He also is big into the memes. That means from time to time he tags me to participate in said memes. Here's the latest that has a distinctly Presbyterian bent.

The rules were these:
- answer each question in about 25 words
- tag five presbyterian bloggers, sending them a note to let them know they were tagged
- link back or send a trackback to to the post from the person who tagged you

The questions with my answers are as follows:

Q1. What is your earliest memory of being distinctly Presbyterian?
A1. I joined the PC(USA) when I moved to San Francisco. I grew up Baptist in Michigan. Towards the end of my years at Calvin College I decided to join the Christian Reformed Church.

Q2. On what issue/question should the PC(USA) spend LESS energy and time?
A2. Figuring out what goes on inside of people’s bedrooms. I don’t want to know this about my fellow Christians. Do they love the Lord? That’s what matters to me.

Q3. On what issue/question should the PC(USA) spend MORE energy and time?
A3. How can we better represent God’s love and justice to the overlooked and the forgotten in this world? How can we better welcome the stranger?

Q4. If you could have the PC(USA) focus on one passage of scripture for a entire year, what would it be?
A4. 1 John 3:16-18 “We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us – and we ought to lay down our lives for one another. How does God’s love abide in anyone who has the world’s goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refuses help? Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.”

Q5. If the PC(USA) were an animal what would it be and why?
A5. A Chihuahua – wide-eyed, shaking, and filled with fear.

Extra Credit: Jesus shows up at General Assembly this year, what does he say to the Presbyterian Church (USA)?

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.”

Oops. Forgot to tag people and most of the Presbyterians who blog that I know have already been tagged. So here are a few who might not have been tagged yet: Karl and Kevin.
